Sydney Marathon
Sydney, AU · Marathon
Sydney is the seventh and newest Abbott Major, and the only one south of the equator. You cross the Harbour Bridge inside the first 3 km and finish on the Opera House steps, with roughly 33,000 finishers around you in 2025. Two honest catches: it climbs about 313 metres, the hilliest of the Majors, so park the flat-course goals; and since it went Major, entry runs through a ballot, not open sign-up.

01 · The data
Numbers, not adjectives
Every race lists elevation gain in meters, the registration type and cost in USD, qualifying times to the second, and the typical race-day temperature. If we're not sure of a field, we say so.
02 · The shortlist
Fewer, better options
We focus on races worth building a trip around, then show the tradeoffs plainly. If a date, price, or route is not confirmed, we mark it instead of filling the gap with confidence.
03 · The trip
Hotels, weather, the lot
Each race page covers where to stay near the start, the race-week forecast, getting there, and what a non-racing partner does while you're out on course.
