We get seven Dolomite passes on closed roads, 4,230 meters of climbing, and 138 km on the full Maratona route. Getting in is the first hard climb: roughly 9,000 places are drawn from more than 30,000 hopefuls, and many bibs require a hotel package of at least 4 nights. The entry is about $170 before lodging. Early July can swing from 8 to 20 degrees, with storms over the passes.
Better info coming — we're still verifying 1 field on this race.
Why we'd pick it
- Serious climbing — 4230 m of gain. Respect the cutoffs.
- It's a lottery. Enter the day it opens, not the week before.
- A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 4/5.
- Race day usually sits 8–20°C, about 35% chance of rain.
The course
The full loop links seven Dolomite passes with roads closed to traffic, 4,230 meters of climbing over 138 km. The early Sella Ronda passes come in a clump before Passo Giau, the high point at 2,236 meters, breaks whatever legs are left.
