SBT GRVL has not published its 2027 date, price, lottery window, or courses, so June 27 and the estimated $275 entry are placeholders. The useful constant is Steamboat itself: we start above 2,000 meters, late-June afternoons can bring fast thunderstorms, and sea-level legs pay an altitude tax. The last one-day program ranged from 25 to 108 miles, but we would not train to those exact routes yet.
Better info coming — we're still verifying 6 fields on this race.
Why we'd pick it
- Serious climbing — 2496 m of gain. Respect the cutoffs.
- It's a lottery. Enter the day it opens, not the week before.
- A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 4/5.
- Race day usually sits 7–26°C, about 25% chance of rain.
The course
The 2027 courses are not published yet. The current planning placeholder follows the 2026 one-day format: Black at 108 miles, Blue at 73, Red at 53, and Green at 25 on Routt County gravel. Steamboat starts above 2,000 meters, so altitude remains the reliable hardship; the stored 2,496-meter gain and 3,050-meter high point must be replaced when the route appears.
