Two Oceans Marathon

April 10, 2027Ultra · Half marathon700 m gain

Two Oceans sends about 11,000 of us 56 km around the Cape Peninsula, from Newlands over Chapman's Peak Drive and up Constantia Nek to finish at UCT. The coastal scenery is the draw. The honest catch is the climb timing: Constantia Nek starts around 43.5 km and grinds roughly 3 km uphill on tired legs, with a 7-hour gun-time cutoff closing behind you. Early-April Cape weather sits 14 to 24 degrees.

Better info coming — we're still verifying 4 fields on this race.

Why we'd pick it

  • 700 m of climbing: rolling, not pancake-flat.
  • Open registration — no lottery to lose.
  • A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 4/5.
  • Race day usually sits 14–24°C, about 30% chance of rain.

The course

A 56 km road ultra around the Cape Peninsula, starting on Main Road in Newlands and finishing at the University of Cape Town. The route runs the coast through Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and Hout Bay, over Chapman's Peak Drive, then up Constantia Nek. The scenery is the draw, but the two big climbs are saved for the back half: Constantia Nek starts around 43.5 km and grinds roughly 3 km uphill on tired legs, with the 7-hour gun-time cutoff closing behind you.
