CCC is how most people break into UTMB week: 101 km from Courmayeur to Chamonix with about 6,050 metres of climbing across Italy, Switzerland and France. Don't underestimate the little sister, the climb out of the start stacks up fast and the 26.5-hour cutoff bites. You need a Running Stone and a qualifier just to enter the lottery. Late August swings 5 to 18 degrees and turns cold and wet up on the cols.

Courmayeur to Chamonix around the back of Mont Blanc, 101 km with about 6,050 metres of climbing through Italy, Switzerland and France. The early haul up to Tete de la Tronche stacks up fast, the high point is the Grand Col Ferret at 2,537 metres, and the 26.5-hour cutoff leaves little slack.
