Understand cancellation before injury decides
NYRR says a general-entry runner who cancels by the deadline and did not cancel the previous edition can become eligible for non-complimentary guaranteed entry the following year. The runner must still claim that entry and pay again during the next application window.
Charity, tour-operator, Team for Kids, Team for Climate, athlete-with-disability, and pregnancy or postpartum policies differ. Read the section that matches the runner's actual entry path and contact that program directly when required.
- Canceling does not refund the current race fee.
- A second consecutive deferral may not create another guaranteed entry.
- Save the cancellation confirmation and next-year eligibility instructions offline.
