New York, at a glance
Point to point
Start on Staten Island. Finish in Central Park. Your hotel’s journey to the pickup and back from the runner exit are different decisions.
Bridges and late climbs
Save effort on the bridges, then prepare for Fifth Avenue and the park. Review the seven course sections before choosing a pace.

What about DNF and methodology?
A final, consistently classified DNF rate has not been verified. A provisional starter-to-finisher gap is not an official DNF statistic. Times are finisher means, not recommended pacing targets. The three-year field figure is the arithmetic mean of the displayed annual totals.

The ribbon is the short version. The full atlas ties every strategy point to the reference elevation shape, spectator stops, hotel bases, and official-source status.
A race across five boroughs
Five boroughs, point to point, opening with the Verrazzano climb off the gun and closing on a set of sneaky-hard rollers into Central Park. About 247 meters (810 ft) of total gain, almost all of it on the bridges; the course nets slightly downhill but never runs like it. Everything between the climbs is crowd noise — the loudest you'll hear on any marathon.
